Pineapple- Pineapples contain a relatively rare proteolytic enzyme called bromelain, which is primarily associated with breaking down complex proteins, but is also an anti-inflammatory. A single serving of pineapple has more than 130% of the daily requirement of vitamin-C. Vitamin C is mainly associated with reducing illness and boosting the immune system by stimulating the activity of white blood cells and acting as an antioxidant to defend against the harmful effects of free radicals.
Orange- Oranges, like other citrus fruits, are an excellent source of vitamin C. They also contain a variety of phytochemicals and help counteract free radicals.
Apple- Most of the polyphenols in apples function as antioxidants. Many health benefit studies focusing on the antioxidant benefits from apple. Particularly strong is the ability of apples to decrease oxidation of cell membrane fats. This benefit is especially important in our cardiovascular system.
Why "Cold Pressed" Juice?
Cold-pressed juice is made with a hydraulic press that uses 2,000 lbs of pressure to extract the maximum amount of liquid from fresh fruits and vegetables that have been shredded. No additional heat or oxygen is used in the process, which preserves more nutrients than traditional juicers. Centrifugal are the most common juicers (especially at home) and certainly the most affordable. These typically utilize a fast-spinning metal blade that spins against a mesh filter, separating juice from flesh by centrifugal force. The juice and pulp are then separated into different containers. The "problem" with centrifugal juicers is that the fast-spinning metal blade generates heat, which destroys some of the enzymes in the fruits and vegetables being juiced. Let's be clear here, these juices are still very healthy and certainly better than any store bought juice, but you certainly get more bang for your nutrient buck when you drink cold pressed juice. I come from the pharmaceutical world where if there isn't a study it's just a claim. So here is a lab study done by Good Nature comparing vitamin A from carrot juice, folate from beet juice, vitamin C from kale. Kale Test
Kale is loaded with lots of different vitamins and minerals, it was between Vitamin A or Vitamin C, since we already tested Vitamin A with the carrots we decided to go with Vitamin C. The test results came back 13.1% higher in the cold press, with 23 mg/100 vs 20 mcg/100g.
