Kimber and I are asked all of the time "what we eat, what we do to stay healthy and what our favorites products are". I certainly don't have a perfect diet and have other ridiculous indulgences, but for the most part I love learning and researching how to make my body, mind and soul be their healthiest and happiest. I also reeeeeally love eating delicious food. It's my job to think about food and share with others. So here are my favorite foods, products and a typical day of eating.
Morning:
Warm lemon water- I always start with the juice of half a lemon, warm water and ginger and turmeric. Lemon is detoxifying, stimulates the digestive system, alkalizes the body and of course gives a boost of vitamin C. Ginger and turmeric are both natural and powerful anti inflammatory spices.
Almond, Blueberry, Cacao Smoothie- My favorite smooth (frozen blueberries, cinnamon, almond butter, raw cacao, collagen powder, chocolate protein powder, maca, a handful of greens and almond milk) I always make my smoothies thicker and eat them with a spoon and usually top with toasted coconut flakes. Warning you may become addicted and have a fear of running out buying several bags at once (ok that's probs just my problem). I pick these tasty bad boys up at Clover's.
Matcha Green Tea- After my lemon water I always have my matcha green tea. Matcha is packed with antioxidants, contains chlorophyll, creates energy AND calmness because the L Theanine balances out the caffeine. It's green and frothy and delicious. If you haven't tried Nourish's Matcha Latte or Coconut Matcha Smoothie you are missing out on some serious goodness. You can also just enjoy matcha mixed with hot water.
Lunch-
Nourish's Broadway Bowl- I literally get this every single day. Quinoa balls, garlic herb hummus, roasted sweet potatoes, roasted broccoli and sauteed greens. Sometimes I add the SCL Chicken Salad or Farmers Market Veggies. I dream of the Broadway Bowl when we are apart.
At least once a day I have either a Cold Pressed Juice (True Green and Glow are my personal favs) from Nourish or a Kombucha (Ginger, Lemonade or Gratitude are my go to's).
Dinner:
My handsome hubs and I love to cook and when we cook at home it's always healthy, organic, unprocessed...you know, real food. He loves his Big Green Egg like a son so we usually grill when we can. Last night's dinner was citrus glazed cedar plank salmon, garlic mashed cauliflower (you'll never miss those pointless potatoes), and roasted asparagus topped with parmesan. Now for the dessert part....don't do what I do. I have a dark chocolate addiction and eat WAY too much of it. I actually want to bathe in it. After I put my little guy, Bo, to bed I get out the computer to work on Nourish and the chocolate cravings begin. I try to channel my sister and have 1 square of dark chocolate and be satisfied, but I'm just not there yet! Those Nourish decadent Sea Salt Truffles are absolute heaven. Yes they are healthy and made with whole, unprocessed ingredients, I just really need to work on my portion control. I want 5, I should have 1...well maybe 2.
In the evenings I always have hot tea (Rishi Turmeric Ginger is my current favorite...also served at Nourish!) and take a bath, with essential oils (DeTerra), bath salts...the whole damn thing. I literally never miss a night.
Other Wellness Routines:
Meditation and Breathing- I try to meditate for 15 minutes every day which really translates to 4-5 times a week. I started with guided meditations when I was new to this practice. There are always meditation programs and apps and so many resources available. #GTS. I do the 21 day Deepak Chopra meditations when the are available (free!) and am more disciplined and do it everyday.
Also the gift of breath. Breathing techniques have saved me from having my heart beat out of my chest and my mind spiraling to craziness. Learn to breathe and passive aggressive comments will move right through you, life stresses will become manageable and no one's driving will affect you. Deep breathing, breathing in slowly, holding your breath and then letting your exhale be longer than your inhale.
Practice GRATITUDE....every day, every sitch and I swear you will live a happy life. It's easy to feel like the victim, in fact it's the lowest form of consciousness, but entertaining those thoughts only makes you miz. Find the good, say it, FEEL it. Every night at dinner Mac and I share our 3 things we are grateful and it can't be the obvious "family, health, friends". It has to be specific... today mine was "not having to wake up to an alarm this morning and having the sun shine in on our all white sheets...it felt serene", (funny that mornings I get up at 5:00 am open at Nourish or do yoga are usually my favorite too) "laying with Bo for the 30 he laid still in the hammock", and "the smell of Serenity essential oil in the diffuser". The more grateful you are for the mundane, simple things...the better.Choose it!
Yoga- Yoga I love thee. I was a competitive athlete and thought yoga was the furthest thing I'd ever be interested in. But it truly has been the biggest gift. I practice everyday and try to take classes 3 times a week. I've never been stronger, more flexible and all of that gratitude, meditation and breathwork is tied right in. I love love love yoga and I will do it until I'm 100. Yoga Sol is my jam but I also enjoy the sweat and intensity of Sumits (and that cold lavender towel). Bo and I even take Little Yogi and Me classes through Alley Cat Yoga. I've incorporated him into my at home yoga practice since the day he was born. I'm determined to have a mindful babe.
Welp, that's it friends. I'm a work in progress...I'm not going to pretend I don't drink too much wine, eat pizza, always deal with stress appropriately and never lose my shit. But I do love to feel good, balanced, and healthy and am able to bounce back to that state quickly. Life is too short to not feel full of energy and happy and that's where I strive to be...duh.
