Being Green

Being Green

When Kimber and I were creating the concept of Nourish, there were two things that were always our main focus. The first is obvious, making nutrient rich food craveable and the new "norm" for how food should be, unprocessed, whole and delicious. The second, was our minimal impact on this beautiful Mother Earth we all share.  To us there is no other option but to go the extra mile and spend a little extra, to ensure that we are being as Eco Friendly as possible, within our small Cafe.  It is said that restaurants (obviously this greatly depends the size) can produce, on average, 150,000 lbs of garbage a year. That's heartbreaking and nothing we wanted to be a part of.  We just hope that our customers care as much a we do and support the local restaurants that do things differently.  Let me share our green ways:

I thought Kimber didn't have enough to do (ya know....just owning a business, being our full time GM and taking care of her baby girl) so I asked her to share her daily healthy habits for our blog. She's inspiring and if you have seen her post baby bod you will drop the chips and get in downward dog immediately. Here is a word from our fearless leader and Co Owner of Nourish, Kimber Dean.  -xo, Kalle

We love food. We love eating it, thinking of ways to make healthy food taste rich and delish and sharing it with others (hello Nourish). Kimber is a trained Chef with a published cookbook, Happy Food Cookbook.  I am not even close to a trained Chef, but I love to cook at home for Mac and Bo and I and sharing my favorite recipes with my girlfriends and sis. So we thought we'd share a few recipes with you that are easy to make and pretty damn tasty.

Superfood Smoothies

We really really love our smoothies over here at Nourish. We are always experimenting (i.e. Pumpkin Pie Smoothie) and adding maca, bee pollen, spirulina, chia seeds to get the most nutritional bang.  I think half of our staff gets the Coconut Matcha daily. But we get it...most of these Superfoods are foreign and intimidating.  Let us wellness junkies break them down for you.
