What is Nourish CoMo?
At Nourish we understand that food is medicine. That food has the power to heal. We see customers everyday who have opted to change their lifestyle to fight an illness, overcome a diagnosis or who are just trying to live life to its fullest with energy and vibrancy. One thing we also understand is organic food (food grown without pesticides, herbicides and GMO’s) is more expensive than conventionally raised produce. We hope and vote with our dollars everyday that this will eventually shift and food without chemicals will be the norm. The reason for creating Nourish CoMo was to bridge the gap for those who have other expenses and local food is not at the top of their priority list… even though it could truly help them heal. Nourish CoMo isn’t specifically for low income families but any family or person who could benefit from locally sourced, specifically from the Columbia Farmers Market. We want to help those who are looking to truly heal their bodies rather than mask the symptoms. The local farmers are such a gift to our community and we not only want to support them and keep the money raised in our community, but the high quality food they grow is what creates a healthy body. Supporting local is better for our health, better for the environment and better for our economy. We want healing food to be accessible to everyone.
How does it work?
As we start out we will select families who are nominated by you. Tell us their story . As mentioned earlier, this does not apply specifically to low income families. Just anyone who could use a bit of help to assist in purchasing healing, nourishing food from the Farmers Market. Imagine a teacher, diagnosed with cancer and can’t prioritize the high quality food that will be the best thing for her body at this time due to other bills. Or a family of 5, whose child was diagnosed with autoimmune disease and their diet has to completely change. This is who we see. This is where the gap is. This is our inspiration. This is our community supporting each other and nourishing from the inside out.
Once selected, we will contact the family/individual will come to Nourish to pick up their voucher. Once they go to the Farmers Market they go to the Oasis Booth to receive $50 worth of tokens. These tokens can be used with any vendor but of course we encourage tons of organic produce!
These tokens can be used only at the Columbia’s Farmers Market.
We will only select as many families/individuals as we have funds raised for that specific week.
Every week Nourish will donate a portion of our sales to Nourish CoMo.
Please help us spread the word and/or donate if you are able. All money raised will go directly to tokens to be used by families/individuals at the Farmer’s Market to get the highest quality food our community has to offer.
