Not all Smoothies are Created Equal

Not all Smoothies are Created Equal

Generally, when you think of smoothies you assume you are making a healthy choice for yourself.  Smoothies, especially those at large chain smoothie and coffee shops, can contain 80 plus grams of sugar (some over 100 grams which is more than 3 sodas…come on!!) and are loaded with preservatives. This is fine if this sugar bomb smoothie is your occasional treat, but let’s hope that your occasional treat is not a smoothie, but rather something chocolate based from a dessert menu. They are trying to convince you that these “healthy” smoothies are actually good for you by showing cross fit athletes, yogis and runners with six packs on their website. We understand the power of marketing, but don’t be fooled and please know there is a BIG difference in smoothies.

Healthy Food Tips and What to Avoid

Healthy Food Tips and What to Avoid

For Kimber and I, Nourish is so much more than a healthy restaurant. We both have such a passion for the body's ability to heal itself when it is given the right environment and the right tools. I wanted to go over a few foods to eliminate or at least minimize as much as possible and some healthy foods to add in.

Wine + Beer that Meet Nourish Standards

Wine + Beer that Meet Nourish Standards

When we started Nourish we weren't sure if we'd serve alcohol, mostly because of space issues and the questions of did it fit within our mission?  But we both live very healthy lifestyles and still love a good glass of wine and/or beer.  #balance.  We have ridiculously high standards with the food we serve and we wanted to be on the forefront of what is happening with wine and beer as well.  This is where biodynamic, natural, organic wines and gluten free beer come in.

Superfood Smoothies

We really really love our smoothies over here at Nourish. We are always experimenting (i.e. Pumpkin Pie Smoothie) and adding maca, bee pollen, spirulina, chia seeds to get the most nutritional bang.  I think half of our staff gets the Coconut Matcha daily. But we get it...most of these Superfoods are foreign and intimidating.  Let us wellness junkies break them down for you.
